Selecting the right security system for your home or business can be a tricky business. There are so many different types of security system to chose from - is one as good as any other?
Well, not exactly. Different security systems are suited to different jobs, so when you're trying to pick the ideal system for your premises, you should first ask yourself what exactly you're trying to achieve.
Security system types
Here are some of the security system types we at IDS Security Systems Ltd install and maintain for our clients:
An intruder alarm is just that: an alarm system that's designed to alert you when unauthorised intruders enter your property. We can provide state-of-the-art intruder alarms that are also capable of monitoring for fires, personal attacks and medical emergencies. Learn more >>
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) allows you to keep an eye on various parts of your premises and watch out for trespassers. In the event of a crime, CCTV footage can also help police to track down the perpetrators. Many of our CCTV camera systems have additional capabilities, e.g. integration with lights and automated gates. Learn more >>
Access control systems
The definition of an access control system is quite broad - basically, it's any system that limits who can go into your building (or specific parts of your building). Passing through an access control point may require you to enter a passcode on a keypad, speak to security personnel via an intercom system, or scan a key fob or smart card. We can even provide biometric systems that check your fingerprints. Learn more >>
Security barriers physically limit the movement of people and vehicles on your property. We can provide arm barriers, turnstiles, rising bollards, and a variety of other barriers to help you keep your premises secure. Learn more >>
In addition to the above, we have recently added two new types of security system to our offering in order to adapt to the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic:
- Our Temperature Screening Systems use thermal imaging to check the body temperature of each person who enters your building, then alert you if someone has an elevated temperature (since fever is a common symptom of COVID-19).
- Our Density Control Systems are designed to keep track of how many people are on your premises at a time. COVID-19 spreads more easily in crowded places, especially indoors; our advanced people-counting cameras can help you to limit this risk.
